Its easy to believe that there are only 2 riding destinations in
Tassie, but there is a thriving mountain biking community on the apple isle,
Australia Day weekend 2025 saw us exploring some trails in the North of the state,
Namely the Wild Mersey trail network
The trail sprawls across some hilly terrain between the towns of Latrobe, Railton and Sheffield
Natural single trail tracks that are pretty well kept
Looking out from Kimberly look out, back towards Mt Roland
The three towns offer different entries to the trails, Railton being a nice spot to jump in and climb to the look out, then the descent from the Badgers is a good bit of single trail fun
Latrobe probably has the best serviced trail head having changerooms and bike wash facilities, the climb is worth the sweat as the down hill trails are excellent, some great blues and the blacks get a bit techy..
Easy to read maps and sign posted trails were quite easy to follow
